Nothing can possibly go wrong - by Prudence Shen and Faith Erin Hicks

I'm not really a manga fan but I do enjoy a good graphic novel and Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong is just that.  Charlie and Nate are unlikely friends with Charlie the captain of the basketball team and Nate the president of the robotics club.  They live on the same street and were made to hang out together because Nate's parents thought he would turn out weird.  Their plan backfired.  When Nate discovers that the school funding to send his club to a robotics competition will instead be given to the cheerleaders for new uniforms Nate hatches a questionable plan.  Only the head chearleader Holly (who also happens to be Charlie's ex-girlfriend) decides to retaliate and drags Charlie into the fight.  When Nate's original plan backfires he comes up with an even crazier idea.  Nothing can possibly go wrong.... right? Who will win, Nate or the cheerleaders?  Will Charlie and Nate's friendship survive?  And why does Nate need industrial strength weedkiller and chainsaws?

Nothing Can Possbily Go wrong has a great mix of humour and emotion.  The character of Charlie is well written and complex which makes you really start to feel for him.  The light sprinkling of jokes and sarcastic sense of humour lightens the story and makes Nate seem slightly less like a sociopath.  The illustrations are fantastic and complement the humour which makes this graphic novel a very enjoyable read.  Definitely give it a go if you like graphic novels (and maybe even if you don't).

This is a graphic novel with lots of very good drawings retelling the story of jack and the beanstalk. This is a very good book if you like fighting and crime.
