Woah, Divergent has
finally reached our screens and I cannot wait to finally see it! I'm hoping
it's as good as the books and that the cast does justice the the world and plot
I've immersed myself in over the three books in the series. BUT, whilst I loved
reading the trilogy over many weeks, a movie only lasts for a couple of hours.
How will we overcome the post movie blues?
Keep an eye out for a couple of posts
giving you some ideas to get you through this challenging time....
Idea no. 2: Read some other excellent series! There are quite a few out there
you know...
For more dystopian, post-apocalyptic bliss
why don't you try:
- The Maze Runner trilogy, by James Dashner. It's good, plus, it has been made into a movie...
- The Pure trilogy by Julianna Baggot. Excellent, originial writing. We've reviewed the first book in the series here.
- The Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld. This series has been popular for years, so it must be good! (Plus, he's got a new book called Afterworlds coming out in 2014. Believe me, judging by his past works, it will be BRILLIANT!)
- The Dust Lands trilogy by Moira Young. I've never read it, but I hear it's good. Book #3 comes out in May 2014. We've reviewed Book #2, Rebel Heart here.
- The Tomorrow series by John Marsden. If you've never heard of these, you've been living under a rock! Excellent writing, set in Australia in the not-too-distant-future. Plus there's seven books in the series to keep you going....
- The Phoenix Files series by Chris Morphew. The plot races along - can the kids of Phoenix stop the apocalypse?! More great Aussie writing, and six books to enjoy. We've reviewed the first book here.
Don't forget, if you can't get it off our shelves, check to see if we have it as an ebook!
