The reluctant Hallelujah by Gabrielle Williams

Unbeknownst to Dodie Farnshaw, her parents have been hiding a big secret in their basement. Think BIG. Think very, very big. Think the corpse of one of the most important human beings ever and you'll be getting pretty close.
Now Dodie's parents are missing and she and her sister Coco are forced to reluctantly take on their parents' role of protecting the corpse from a bunch of bad guys. With the help of their mate Enron and two complete strangers, Dodie finds herself driving (unlicensed) from Melbourne to Sydney - 5 teenagers and 1 dead guy in a 1964 Falcon - to fulfill her parents' duty and hopefully get them back alive. Hugely entertaining, very original and often touching, this is a great read by a Melbourne writer.

  1. Thanks Caitlin. Rapt you liked it. Although you made me laugh, because Dodie's surname is Farnshaw, not Williams - Williams is me!

    1. Oops, my mistake. I'm feeling a bit foolish right now... I've correct my error - Dodie Farnshaw it is! ...Did I mention it's a terrific book? Caitlin.
