Staff review - The FitzOsbornes in exile, by Michelle Cooper

This is a fabulous sequel to A brief history of Montmaray. Having escaped from their ruined island home of Montmaray, Sophie and her family are thrown into the high society circles of aristocratic London in the 1930s. It is very hard for them to adjust to all the glamour, splendour and rules associated with high society living. Once again the story is told in diary format with Sophie keeping the entries and we see the events leading up to WWII unfold through Sophie’s eyes. Sophie and her family watch with horror as these events unfold and their concerns about Montmaray and all that has happened there draw them into the intrigue and politics of the time as well.

If you’re into historical fiction you’ll love this and will be waiting impatiently for the third concluding book.
