Slice: juicy moments from my impossible life, by Steven Herrick

This book is a hoot. Steven Herrick had me snorting with laughter as he recounted the trials of year eleven student Darcy Walker. His biggest problem is that he has a mouth which operates independently of his brain and he is inclined to say the first thing that comes into his head, which has hilarious and, at times for Darcy, painful results. Steven Herrick explores all the things which cause teen boy angst: hippie parents, nerdy friends, school camps where you end up making a fool of yourself and infatuation for the most beautiful girl in the school. Darcy’s attempts to win the interest and affection of the beautiful Audrey are amusing, realistic and tender. You end up cheering for him. Go Darcy!
