Pink by Lili Wilkinson

Ava Simpson desperately wants a change. She desperately wants to fit in. Which is why she's stripping the black dye from her hair and leaving her public school and her girlfriend Chloe behind to embrace conventionality, normality and hopefully popularity. Completing her transformation is her move to a posh private school, a new look and a pink cashmere sweater.

Can Ava really find her place amongst the beautiful, popular and conventional gang at her new school? These new friends make assumptions about her homelife, her interests and her sexuality - but so do her girlfriend and parents, so what's new? Or will she discover her true self amongst the school's outcasts, who are determined to buck convention and be true to themselves?

An entertaining, contemporary story which explores sexuality, popularity, and the pressures imposed on teens not only by society, but also from within.
