This book is a charming adaption for children of the true story of Mao’s Last Dancer. The theme of working hard to make one’s dreams come true is something to which we can all aspire. The story is suitable for readers aged six and up. Adults who have read Li Cunxin’s memoir will also enjoy reading this book: the beautiful watercolour illustrations bring Li’s childhood world to life.
