Born with a facial abnormality which makes people stare, August Pullman has been home-schooled until he is 10 years old. Starting in middle school is a challenge for Auggie as he faces stares, discrimination and ignorance. The way he overcomes these obstacles, and makes people see the boy underneath, is uplifting and testament to what he is - a wonder.
