I've been keen to read something by David Walliams for a while, because I'm a big fan of his adult comedy on the subversive TV series, Little Britain. This book, for junior readers, was amusing and very touching. Young Ben, whose hideous parents live and breathe ballroom dancing, is forced to spend every Friday night with his extremely boring Granny. All she does is suck mints, cook cabbage and play scrabble! Until the day that Ben discovers she is an international jewel thief and has one last job on her mind…. A very sweet story, it may even make you cry. Plus, you will probably never look at your own Granny the same way again!
