Staff Review - Silvermay by James Moloney

CoverSilvermay is James Moloney's newest fantasy. The first part of a trilogy, it is the story of Silvermay Hawker whose life is unremarkable until the day Tamlyn arrives in her village with a young mother, Nerigold and her son Lucien.  Silvermay's family befriend Tamlyn and Nerigold and hide them from the dark forces who are seeking Nerigold's son Lucien.  When Tamlyn and Nerigold leave the village Silvermay goes with them to help look after Lucien.  Their journey takes them to some ancient mosaics which foretell a violent and dreadful future for Lucien. In this world where it is hard to distinguish between friend and foe, Silvermay battles to protect Lucien from those who seek to control or destroy him. This is an exciting, fast paced fantasy with many unexpected twists that will keep you guessing.
