Staff review - Virals by Kathy Reichs

Tory Brennan has come to live on a secluded island with the father she has just begun to connect with, after getting over the death of her mother. She is also the niece of the acclaimed forensic anthropologist Temperence Brennan (of the Bones books and TV series) and whilst Temperence really only gets a mention here and there, it is clear that they share similar passions for things out of the ordinary.

Tory and her group of science wiz friends rescue a wolf-dog from an experimental research facility on their island, not realizing that they themselves could be in danger from the very same experiment that has been inflicted on the dog. They battle against their parents finding out what they have done, keeping the wolf-dog alive and secret in such a small community, as well as understanding and surviving what is happening to themselves. Put into the mix a 45 year old murder mystery that they stumble onto and the band of four friends have to scramble to stay alive.

A real page turner, and I expect that there will possibly be more books to come with this band of friends as our heroes.

What now?
