Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, 1) / Marissa Meyer
Reviewer: Sharni
A reimagined fairy tale where Cinderella (now Cinder) is the
unwanted adopted cyborg daughter of a once wealthy family. She also happens to
be something of a genius with anything mechanical (which is handy when you are
part cyborg). An outbreak of plague in New Beijing sets of a chain of events
that puts Cinders into the path of the newly crowned Emperor and a possibly mad
scientist. Throw into the mix the fact that Cinders has no memories of her
biological parents, a sassy android sidekick and an evil Queen bent on world
domination – this version of Cinderella leaves the Disney adaptations in the
dust and paves the way for the rest of the Lunar Chronicles.
