Art Spiegelmans' bestselling graphic novel MAUS is truly a wonderful text, displaying the true meaning of the holocaust. The novel is based on the story of the author's father, Vladek Spiegelman, and his journey to survive the holocaust. The story is told in two times: One where Art is interviewing Vladek in the present day and the other being Vladeks' journey in WW2. This adds a strong feel of family to the novel. The illustrations are detailed and achieve in capturing the audience and all the animal allegories throughout the novel are very interesting. I believe the novel goes on for a bit to long at the start but when you hit the halfway mark you will not want to put it done. Highly recommended for anyone interested in the holocaust.
