Vessel by Sarah Beth Durst

To save her desert clan, Liyana has accepted her fate as vessel for her goddess Bayla. Liyana's soul will go to the Dreaming and Bayla will inhabit Liyana's body to create the magic that will ease the drought that is seeing the Goat Clan slowly starve. When Bayla doesn't come Liyana is exiled from her people for being unworthy. Abandoned in the desert by her tribe Liyana is approached by Korbyn, the trickster god, and asked to help free Bayla who has been entrapped in a false vessel. Can Liyana trust the trickster god and put her life in his hands?

Vessel was a fantastic read and really hard to put down. I had to keep stopping myself from flipping to the end to see what would happen! Sarah Beth Durst has created a rich world filled with ancient stories, myths and a touch of magic. Liyana is a strong lead character who I instantly liked and I enjoyed following her on her journey. I definitely recommend this book if you want to read something with a refreshing take on the fantasy genre.
