Staff review - The raging quite, by Sherryl Jordan

This is a story set as a fantasy and based on fact. It is the account of a 16 year old girl growing up in medieval times. Her name is Marnie and she marries a Lord of a Manor, who takes her to a small village by the sea. He dies while thatching their cottage's roof. Her only friends in this village are Father Brannnan (the priest) and Raver (a deaf boy who the villagers don't understand and call a madman). Marnie learns that Raver is deaf and she communicates with him via hand signs. The villagers see her as a witch and try her as one. She survives and marries Raver, who is by then called Raven.
