Elephant run, by Roland Smith

Living in London during the night-time bombing raids (Blitzkreig or 'The Blitz' as it became known)of World War II is not a safe place for a fourteen year old boy. But Nick Freestone is sent off to Burma, which is supposedly a neutral country, where he is catapulted into even more danger. He has to deal with a timber elephant turned mad after a tiger attack, and Japanese soldiers who have captured his father. This is an exciting tale of a rich and exotic Burma during wartime and those who want to exploit its wealth.
